My London 2012 Experience

And there's more....!!!!!

Well I didn't want to add a final post, now I don't! On the train to London to the Paralympics, got tickets for the velodrome tomorrow! Thanks Karen and Paul xxxx

Closing Day Antics

Had a brilliant last day. Friendly relaxed atmosphere, worked with Emily and Raj, Team BMX. I swapped tickets to work with Emily, then we found out Raj was with us too, result! Emily and I even contemplated leaving at dinner. However, come 6pm we were having a blast. We had just been on Sky News with Emma Birchley! Fame at last! And the crowds were just as dressed up...

Star spotting! 12th Aug 2012

A couple of famous faces that attended the closing ceremony. One of my fellow Gamesmakers did not recognise Yoko and therefore as we were on the gate, stopped Yoko by asking "ticket holders only past this point. Please can I see your ticket"....bless her, she was gently pushed to one side! Yoko Ono had specially produced the version of Imagine that was played in the ceremony. Some of my fellow Gamesmakers had not heard of Yoko or John Lennon and a couple said they had heard of The Beatles! I reckon it's an age thing! This was a great shift for me, right at the point everyone was entering the park. Smiles, chatting, dancin'....all good.

Opening Ceremony Pics

At last I am sharing these pics. I watched it again yesterday on tv, just as amazed as I was originally! Bought the album as well. Sat next to Tracy, a fellow volunteer who was as excited as me! We were both on the verge of crying, little did we know that there would be many more tears shed over the following weeks....

Special Saturday!

Had lunch at 'Dinner at Hestons' at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge with Natalie. It was beautiful food and great company. My treat to Natalie for letting me stay with her during the Olympics. It was well up there as one of the top restaurants I have ever been to. Great choice Nat.
Then we met friends in Soho....dancin and drinks, with Jo, Juffsy, Nicola and Donna. Wild wild wild....crazy people! Walk of shame home across Waterloo Bridge at 6.30am!

Megaphone Madness

Meet my French friend Julie. She rocked on the megaphone...a few of her sayings, all spoken in an Allo Allo voice:
Hello people, welcome to the Olympic Park, head for the pink and purple gate.
Ticket collection office is in the blue hut behind Steve that looks like a toilet.
Accessible things are in the white tent behind Steve.
In fact, apart from the Olympic Park, everything is behind Steve.
No fluids allowed into the park. If you have any you will either have to drink it, throw it away, or if it is alcohol, give it to me and Steve.
Would anyone like to sing a song on the megaphone?

I had such fun with Julie, we laughed all day and had a right crack with the spectators. I worked my last day again with Julie, when we realised we were on the same patch we ran and hugged!! Julie lives in Southend, although she does stress she is not an Essex bird!

Way to go!

WOW! What a show, I am rockin with the dudes man !

Up the Orbit

This was brilliant, loved it! What a view, even saw a victory ceremony, Chariots of Fire.....

Final Push

Well on my last stretch of my final shift....

Day 10 Final Shift

Well here it is, the day of my final shift. Voice gone, suntanned, exhausted, all cried out.....

Olympic Park Highlights

Got to the park early yesterday so I could take in some of the sights. It really is an amazin venue with so much to see and do. Anyone with a ticket should get there early and spend the whole day there. Going back early tomorrow again, still places and things I want to do!
